United Methodist Publishing House editor Len Wilson recently analyzed the denominational statistics for the United Methodist conferences in the U.S. and the Indiana Conference ranked near the top.  Click here to read the whole report.   The report points out that the Indiana Conference ranked the fourth largest by average weekly worship attendance in 2009, and 10th in membership (out of just over 60 conferences).   Of course, Indiana’s rank improved due to the joining of the former North and South Indiana Conferences.

Wilson’s article goes on to point out that when one considers which conferences rank the highest when dividing the worship attendance into the membership totals, the Indiana Conference continues to be right up near the top at number four, with a figure of nearly of nearly 60%.   In other words although many conferences, especially in the Southeastern Jurisdiction, report large membership figures, their percentage in worship on any given weekend is quite low compared to conferences like Indiana.

Way to go Indiana Conference UMC’s!
